It is commonly seen in the articles and essays for the general public that authors often use the phrase "market expectations". They are usually based on surveys conducted amongst respected economists. Where do the statemets of the central bank to cause strong market reactions come from?
Everyday houndreds of economic indicators from all over the world enter the market. Their interpretation often depends on expectations of investors concerning the given indicator. In most cases the participants of currency or stock market use the median of estimates, which are published by news agencies such as Bloomberg, Reuters or Dow Jones.
